  • Carnival Cruise Line announced The Band Perry, Boston, Lionel Richie, Rascal Flatts, and Heart will be among the next acts in the Carnival LIVE! concert series. The bands will perform for passengers in 900- to 1,300-seat theaters while ships are docked in Cozumel, Nassau, or St. Thomas. You can buy a ticket for the show ($35 to $75) or splurge on a VIP pass, which includes schmooze time with the artists.

 

  • Ovation of the Seas is heading to Australia for winter 2016/2017, bringing the Aussies such features as a Bionic Bar staffed by robots, bumper cars, and simulated skydiving. As previously announced, the ship will first debut in April 2016 in China. Once in Sydney, Ovation of the Seas will claim the title of largest cruise ship to ever homeport in Australia. The second Quantum-class ship, Anthem of the Seas, just arrived in the UK.

 

  • Viking Ocean Cruises brand-new Viking Star embarked on her maiden voyage from Istanbul to Venice this week, launching the first entirely cruise line in a decade. Viking Star is on her way to be officially christened in Bergen, Norway, on May 17 – Norwegian Constitution Day.
