Queen Victoria gets a redo

Fresh off a 20-day refurbishment in Hamburg, Germany, Queen Victoria is showing off a new look that includes the addition of nine cabins designed and priced for solo travelers.

Enhancements were made to outdoor spaces including the Upper Grill Terrace, with additional areas for sunbathing, and the ship’s library received eight brand-new Internet stations on the upper level. Other spiffing up included 215,000 feet of new carpet in passenger areas and fresh paint inside and out (some 2,695 gallons worth).

As the ship departed Southampton on its 2015 world voyage, Cunard Line celebrated the redo, the start of the epic cruise, and the venerable line’s 175^th anniversary year with fireworks illuminating the sky.
