Porthole Cruise News Briefs

May 15, 2015

  • Book a mystery cruise on Hapag-Lloyd’s Europa 2 and go with the flow. On the 10-day “surprise cruise” sailing embarking Istanbul to Piraeus (Athens) on May 14, 2016, you’re at the whim of the captain and your fellow passengers — the ship’s port calls will be decided by those on board during the cruise.

  • Zumba fans can dance the night away and the day (and calories) too with 130 instructors from around the world on a new official Zumba Cruise. The fun is aboard Royal Caribbean International’s Independence of the Seas, on a 5-day sailing from Fort Lauderdale to Falmouth and Labadee, embarking January 25, 2016.

  • Silversea Cruises passengers seeking out adventure may want to check out a new land extension option in Italy’s Dolomite Mountains. The three-night “Hiking in Cortina” package involves trekking with a licensed guide along an “iron road” — a narrow route equipped with steel cables, ladders, suspended bridges, and other things to hold on to. The line says hikers at any level will be able to “hike on ledges, climb vertical walls, and reach mountain peaks.” Helmets, harnesses, and other safety equipment are provided. Accommodations are at the Rosapetra Spa Resort. The land tour is offered with 17 Mediterranean cruises.
