  • Princess Cruises debuted a new cocktail created by Ted Lange, who played red-jacketed bartender Isaac on The Love Boat. Guests can now order up “The Isaac,” which is made with white rum and red pomegranate syrup, two pineapple leaves (a tribute to the character’s signature two-hand, two-finger greeting to passengers), lime juice, and club soda….
     
  • Tauck announced names for its Inspiration-class riverboats that will join the fleet next year — choosing from some 400 ideas submitted in an employee contest. The new 130-passenger ships will be ms Grace and ms Joy and will increase the company’s fleet to nine….
     
  • Oceania Cruises will expand its culinary curriculum with 20 new classes for the Culinary Center, including a special two-day culinary immersion program, a session focused on the life and legacy of Chef Jacques Pépin, and additions to the Gourmet Explorer Series that showcases cooking styles from a variety of international destinations. The new programs will debut on Marina and Riviera starting in April 2015….
     
  • Talk about a big hint. Carnival Corporation put out a press release reconfirming that its $85 million Amber Cove port in the Dominican Republic will open in October (Carnival Victory will be the first ship to visit the port, on October 6). The news said that the port pairs well with Grand Turk “to anchor new central Caribbean itineraries” for the company’s nine brands. The release also included this statement: “In looking to the future, the port is strategically located to be incorporated into itineraries featuring potential stops in Cuba.”
