And
the award goes to…Porthole’s readers
pick the best of 2004
In
1989, the Academy of Motion Picture Arts
and Sciences decided to drop the phrase,
“and the winner is…” when presenting
the Oscars® and replace it with “and
the Oscar® goes to…”
The
Academy recognized the overall high
quality of all the nominees and wanted to
make the distinction between being awarded
an honor and being an actual “winner.”
After all, every nominee is a winner in
some way, simply by virtue of being
nominated for such a prestigious award.
That’s
exactly how we at Porthole feel about the
nominees in our sixth annual Readers’
Choice Awards. As almost every cruiser,
cruise line official, and travel guru can
attest, standards of product, service, and
guest satisfaction within the cruise
industry are incredibly high, straight
across the board.
So,
by recognizing one particular line or
itinerary, readers have literally picked
the very best of the best, singling out
the extraordinary from a field of nominees
that is far from ordinary.
We
are proud to present your choices of the
lines, itineraries, and services that you
considered truly outstanding in 2004.
Our
congratulations go to all the awardees. So,
without further ado, “the awards go to…”
