Through disembarkation surveys and
passenger comment cards, cruise lines constantly
monitor themselves to improve their service
standards and onboard products.
The result is that bad cruise experiences are few
and far between - nearly nonexistent. In
fact, surveys show that cruising claims the
highest percentage of people reporting
"extreme satisfaction" with their
vacations, says Bob Sharak, executive director of
the New York-based Cruise Lines International
Association. That is to say that those who
step off ships after weeklong cruises are more apt
to express ebullience about their experiences than
those who return from a resort or other vacation
venue.
But, of course, some cruise
lines provide greater degrees of satisfaction than
others. In this, the fifth year of Porthole
Cruise Magazine's Readers' Choice Awards, we
proudly announce those cruise lines that do the
best job at pleasing guests - according to you,
our readers.
Your choices represent the
crème de la crème, but as those who hop from cruise line
to cruise line know, almost all companies that
operate cruise ships find themselves well within
the winners circle.
