TRAVEL TECH /I Think, Therefore I Blog
By JD Andrews

Blog. What an interesting word. It’s actually short for weblog, and it seems that more and more are created each day. If you don’t already have a blog, you might wonder why you should, what you would blog about, and who would read it. Well, I’m here to tell you to go ahead, get one. It’s free, it’s fun, and it’s a great way to share your cruise adventures with friends, family — or the world.
Back in the day, you would send a postcard with a picture of an exotic destination and a few lines about the day. But now, you can create a detailed blog post, along with pictures and video, describing all the cool things you are seeing, eating, and doing. What a great way to share your trip with all the envious people you left at home. Just send the link to whoever you want to read it, and your blog becomes your very own virtual postcard.
There are a number of free blog programs out there and they all do about the same thing: You create a new post, add your text and/or a picture, and then hit “publish.” And just like that, you’re on the World Wide Web for the whole wide world to see. (So keep in mind that your blog — unless otherwise specified — is out there for anyone and everyone to read. Always be careful about what you want to share and what you want to keep private.)
Not only can you post your text, pictures, and video, but most “blog publishing platforms” (fancy name, huh?) includes all kinds of extras (widgets) to add on your page, including your Facebook and Twitter feeds, pictures from your Flickr account, and the list goes on. Share as much or as little as you like. Most of the popular blog programs also have a mobile phone app to make it even easier to post.
